JOSHUA LEDET: WOWS "AMERICAN IDOL" JUDGES

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- It's up to the voters to decide -- but if the "American Idol" judges had their way, the winner of last night's competition would be Joshua Ledet. The Louisiana native got all three judges singing his praises -- and predicting he will be one of the two finalists left after the voting public has its say. During last night's performance show, each of the three remaining finalists did three songs. One was picked by the judges, one picked by mentor Jimmy Iovine and one was chosen by the singers. Ledet performed Etta James' "I'd Rather Be Blind," John Lennon's "Imagine" and "No More Drama" by Mary J. Blige. Jessica Sanchez also scored big with the judges, except for her take on "I'll Be There," which judge Randy Jackson rated as "just OK." And after getting a split decision on his first two songs, Phillip Phillips impressed the judges with the Bob Seger song "We've Got Tonight." Jackson called that his "best performance on the show ever." One more singer will be eliminated tonight -- leaving the final two to battle for this year's Idol title.

WHITNEY HOUSTON: TRIBUTE FOR LATE SINGER AT BILLBOARD AWARD

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Those who were disappointed at the way the Grammys handled the tribute to Whitney Houston the day after she died can see the music industry take another crack at it on Sunday. The 2012 Billboard Music Award will feature a special honor for the singer. She will be given the Billboard Millennium Award -- and some of her music will be performed by John Legend and Jordin Sparks. Sparks co-stars with Houston in her final movie, "Sparkle," which was finished before she died in February. Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and sister-in-law, Pat Houston will be on hand for awards show in Las Vegas. It airs live on ABC at 8 p.m., Eastern time.

WHITNEY HOUSTON: GOSPEL SINGER WHO GAVE EULOGY CARJACKED

DETROIT (AP) -- The singer who delivered the eulogy at Whitney Houston's funeral has been the victim of a carjacking in his native Detroit. Gospel star Marvin Winans had his car swiped from him yesterday while filling his tank at a gas station on the city's west side. Police say the suspects fled with an unknown amount of cash -- as well as with Winans' SUV. Though he's well known in the Detroit area, Winans believes his attackers didn't recognize him.

CHUCK BROWN: GO-GO CREATOR DIES, WAS WASHINGTON D.C. MUSIC LEGEND

WASHINGTON (AP) -- He may not have been well known outside the nation's capital. But Chuck Brown was as much a part of the Washington D.C. fabric as any politician or marble monument in town. Brown helped craft and popularize go-go music -- a mixture of funk, soul and Latin party sounds. Brown has passed away. He was 75 and had pneumonia. D.C. mayor Vincent Gray says the nation's capital will be a different place without him. Brown's biggest hit was "Bustin' Loose" with his group, the Soul Searchers -- which spent several weeks at the top of the R&B chart in 1979. Nelly sampled "Bustin' Loose" in 2002 for his Grammy-winning rap hit "Hot in Herre." Filmmaker Spike Lee also counted himself as a fan of Brown's, using go-go in his movie "School Daze."

TIA MOWRY: LEAVING "THE GAME" BEHIND

NEW YORK (AP) -- Tia Mowry is giving up "The Game." Or The Game is giving her up. It's unclear which way it went down. But the fact is, she won't be back when the BET show's sixth season rolls around. A rep for Mowry confirmed the news -- but provided no details about why she's leaving the show. Mowry stars as Melanie Barnett-Davis, a med school grad and wife of football star Derwin Davis, played by Pooch Hall. The show aired on the CW for three seasons, then was picked up by BET after nearly two years of being off the air. Meanwhile Tia and sister Tamera (tah-MEHR'-ah) will be doing a second season of their reality show, which airs on Style Network.

YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: NOT STRESSING OVER "COMMUNITY"

PASADENA, California (AP) -- Some actors get all worked up over whether their TV show is picked up for another season. Then, there's Yvette Nicole Brown. She says she has "no angst about" whether "Community" returns to the NBC lineup next season. Brown says she's learned in life that -- as she put it: "everything is survivable until the last thing that's not survivable." And she notes that in the big picture, whether a TV show stays on the air or not is "not the end of everything." She says the show is like being on a ride -- you get on it and stay on as long as the ride is available -- and when it isn't, you hop off and when the next ride comes along, you "take that ride." The season finale for Community is tonight.

Yvette Nicole Brown says she's not worrying about whether next sesaon will be the last for "Community."

FORMER HOUSTON POLICE OFFICER ACQUITTED IN BEATING OF BLACK TEEN

HOUSTON (AP) -- Some community leaders in Houston were calling it another example of police brutality against minorities -- and that was before a jury acquitted one of the officers accused of beating a black teenage burglary suspect. PROBE LAUNCHED INTO WEB SITE SET UP BY MOM OF MAN WHO KILLED EIGHT

HARTFORD, Connecticut (AP) -- Officials in Connecticut are investigating a web site set up by the mother of the black man who killed eight employees at a Manchester beer distribution warehouse. The site by Lillie Holliday is set up as a memorial for her son, Omar Thornton -- and seeks donations to fight institutionalized racism. Thornton killed eight people and wounded two others on August 3, 2010, at his workplace. Just before the shooting, he was fired for stealing beer. But before he killed himself, he called 911 and said he worked at "a racist place" and that he and fellow blacks had been treated badly. He added: "I wish I could have got more of the people." A police investigation concluded there was no evidence to support the claim of racism.
