On February 9, 2006 it was announced that Oprah had signed athree-year, $55 million contract with XM Satellite Radio to establish anew radio channel. The channel, Oprah & Friends, features popularcontributors including Nate Berkus, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Bob Greene, Dr.Robin Smith.

Oprah publishes two magazines: O, The Oprah Magazine and O at Home. She has co-authored five books.

In 1986, Oprah formed her own production company, HarpoProductions, Inc. In 1988, Harpo acquired ownership in "The OprahWinfrey Show" making Oprah the first woman in history to own andproduce her own talk show.

When Forbes magazine published its list of America's billionairesfor the year 2003, it disclosed that Oprah Winfrey was the firstAfrican-American woman to become a billionaire.

Oprah's middle name is Gail. It's the same as her best friend butthe spelling is different. Oprah Gail Winfrey was born January 29,1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi.

Oprah Winfrey Attended College at Tennessee State University (TSU)A Historically Black University Located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Oprah recived her first Broadcasting job While still in High Schoolfor radio station WVOL. She worked part-time delivering news thencontinued that job for two years while in college at TSU.

In 1985 Oprah was nominated for an Academy Award as SupportingActress for her role as Sofia in Steven Spielberg's epic filmadaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The ColorPurple.
